Reliance Jio picks up streaming rights for Abu Dhabi T10 Cricket league

MUMBAI: Reliance Jio Infocomm has signed a two-year deal with T10 Sports Management to live stream the Abu Dhabi T10 League to its 330 million Indian subscribers on its JioTV platform.

The third edition of the 10-over format league will be played at Zayed Cricket stadium in in Abu Dhabi from November 15 to 24.

“We’re delighted that Abu Dhabi T10 will be carried on India’s largest mobile network. Not only because more fans will be able to watch the games, but the way they follow the game has evolved. Now they can watch from home or on the go, on their phone, wherever they are and that’s a great step forward,” said Shaji Ul Mulk, chairman, T10 Sports Management.

Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) already has television and digital rights for the league and Reliance Jio will air Sony LIV’s feed on its service.

With this new broadcast agreement in place and the move to the UAE capital for the league’s third season, this year’s viewership numbers are expected to more than double than previous year’s figure of 100 million, due in large part to Jio’s content-hungry mobile audience.

The league will have international cricketers including England captain Eoin Morgan, Pakistan’s Shoaib Malik, West Indies captain Darren Sammy, Sri Lankan duo Angelo Matthews and fast-bowler Lasith Malinga, Australians Shane Watson and Cameron White and West Indian icons Andre Russell, Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo.
